Sharing files

The File Sync & Share administrator may disable file sharing. If this is the case, file share options on the right sidebar are not available.

When you share a file, you actually create and share a system-managed share link to the file. The link determines who can access the shared file through the link, their edit and download permissions, and how long the file is accessible for.

There are two ways to share a file:

You can create multiple share links to a single file. Each link can share the file with different people and/or share groups, with different access permissions, and different expiry parameters.

To invite someone to share a file in a shared folder that you are not the owner of, you need the appropriate access permission.
Permissions are granted by the owner.
If you do not have the necessary permission, file share link options will not appear in the right sidebar when you select the file.
