Multi-national logistics giant Hellmann Worldwide Logistics recently reported a cyberattack on their infrastructure.
Though headquartered in Germany, Hellmann provides logistics services in 173 countries around the world. Including members of their partner network, the company has over 20,000 employees, and reported a revenue of $3 billion last year — making them an undeniably high-value target.
Hellmann has recruited outside security specialists to assist with the restoration process. Until operations are back to 100%, the company is encouraging customers to contact them via cell phone (rather than email or landline) with any requests or inquiries.
All indications at this time point to Hellmann suffering a ransomware attack, though it's unclear what group might be responsible, how much data may have been compromised, or the value of any ransom that may have been demanded. Regardless of the specific threat faced, Acronis Cyber Protect effectively detects and stops ransomware of any kind — even never-before-seen variants — keeping your data safe and your company running as planned.
