Famed rock star Ozzy Osbourne recently announced a new NFT project by the name of CryptoBatz. After a change in promotional URLs, phishers were able to steal more than $40,000 from over 1,300 unsuspecting collectors looking to buy NFTs from CryptoBatz.
The project changed the URL for its Discord channel, but phishers were able to re-register the old URL for nefarious purposes. Since nobody on the CryptoBatz team deleted or updated previous communications that referenced the old URL, many collectors were actually directed to a malicious clone of the project, which emptied their cryptocurrency wallets.
Acronis Cyber Protect's built-in URL filter recognizes phishing domains, even in the Discord app, and protects users from interacting with them.
