Acronis tops combined analysis of three Canalys research reports

Channel-focused analyst firm Canalys recently released three major reports covering topics and technologies essential to MSPs: RMM / PSA, Backup and Disaster Recovery and Cybersecurity. Acronis conducted a quantitative meta-analysis of all three Canalys Leadership Matrix reports, and compared to other MSP platform vendors, came out on top.

Canalys breaks vendors into one of four quadrants: Champions, Contenders, Scalers and Foundations.

In late 2024, Acronis appeared in the RMM and PSA report for the first time, achieving a rating of Scaler as a company with strong upward momentum in the space. Acronis was among the leaders in Canalys’ Momentum score, which reflects a strong positive uptick in sentiment from MSP partners and highlights Acronis as a vendor on the rise in RMM and PSA.

In the other two categories, Acronis achieved Champion status. Canalys names Champions by assessing vendors and determining which have a combination of the highest and most consistent channel partner feedback. The firm also looks at which vendors have generated growth and profits for partners and maintained strong momentum over the last 12 months.

Champion vendors share similar attributes: positive partner sentiment, a focus on continuous improvements, a willingness to boost growth opportunities and increase profitability for partners, a focus on training and enablement, and a commitment to growing the share of revenue generated through the channel.

In the Managed BDR Leadership Matrix 2025, Acronis holds the best overall position. It is a clear number one on the Leadership axis, and it is among the top vendors on the Momentum axis.

In the 2025 Cybersecurity Leadership Matrix, Canalys named Acronis a Champion for the first time. In the two previous reports, Acronis had been a Scaler, so promotion to the Champions quadrant is a noteworthy accomplishment.

Among MSP platform vendors, including ConnectWise, Kaseya / Datto, N-able and NinjaOne / Dropsuite, only Acronis appeared in all three reports. Because no other vendor among those previously mentioned was included in the Cybersecurity Leadership Matrix, Acronis achieved the highest cumulative ranking overall in our meta-analysis.

Acronis analyzed the results in two ways. A simple metric assigns points for each quadrant: 4 for Champion, 3 for Contender, 2 for Scaler, 1 for Foundation and 0 for not being included in a particular report. When put into a table and graphed, the results are as follows:

Another more complicated methodology measured each dot of each vendor on the X and Y axes and converted the distance into a score. The results are nearly identical.

Our combined score in this meta-analysis demonstrates the power of Acronis’ natively integrated cybersecurity, data protection and management functionality. It also highlights Acronis’ overwhelming leadership position in cybersecurity among this group of vendors. Again, Acronis is the only MSP platform vendor to be named in the Cybersecurity Leadership Matrix 2025; and, moreover, Acronis was named a Champion. Given how important delivering cybersecurity services is to the MSP market, the conclusion of this meta-analysis should provide clear guidance to MSPs evaluating platform solutions.
