Storm Ylenia disrupts German business operations

Storm Ylenia caused chaos in Germany last week, bringing gale-force winds that toppled trees, caused power outages, and even forced the shutdown of long-distance trains in seven of the country's states.

The storm's winds peaked at 152 kph (94 mph), which is strong enough to cause plenty of damage, and even led to one casualty when a tree collapsed on a car. Winds also knocked out power in over 170 cities and towns across the country, with one state seeing as many as 50,000 customers without power.

Not all cyberthreats are digital. Storms and other natural disasters can be just as damaging to your systems and data, and can disrupt normal business operations when local power is unavailable. With the Advanced Disaster Recovery pack for Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud, not only can you recover to local systems from backup, but you can spin up those backups as virtual machines in the cloud — ensuring that expensive downtime is kept to a minimum in the face of disaster.
