Medatixx hit with ransomware, urges customers to change passwords

Medatixx — the German medical software provider whose solutions and software support over 21,000 medical facilities, more than 40,000 physicians, and their staff — has been forced to halt operations after falling victim to a ransomware attack .

The company claims that the attack encrypted important parts of their IT systems, severely impairing access and company operations, but indicated that the damage didn't reach their customers nor impact their PVS (practice management systems). It's currently unknown whether the attackers were able to access or steal any critical or confidential data, including that of customers, physicians, or patients.

Despite containing the attack internally, Medatixx is advising any users of their products to immediately change their passwords as a precautionary measure. As of November 10, the company is still recovering from the attack, and has only been able to restore email and telephone access.

When ransomware hits, Acronis Cyber Protect keeps your systems and data safe and your operations online. The included Active Protection identifies and blocks even never-before-seen ransomware threats based on the malicious behaviors they exhibit.
