Lazarus gang turns focus to IT supply chain

The North Korean APT group known as Lazarus, responsible for the infamous WannaCry ransomware attack and the 2014 attack on Sony Pictures, has been targeting the IT supply chain, according to recent research.

A new variant of the BLINDINGCAN remote access trojan (RAT) has been used in recent attacks, which targeted a Latvian IT company and a South Korean think tank. BLINDINGCAN allows the attacker to capture information about installed disks, operating system and processor information, and other data. It can also create and run files and processes, among other functions.

Acronis Cyber Protect uses advanced behavioral detection and machine intelligence to identify threats like BLINDINGCAN and other trojans, keeping your data safe from even the most advanced cybercrime gangs.
