Recovering data to the Exchange cluster

To recover the data, the administrator can connect the console either to the management server, or to any cluster node directly.

To configure data recovery to the Exchange cluster

1. Connect the console to the required cluster node, and click Recover.
2. Under What to recover, select the data to recover as described in the "Selecting data to recover" section.
3. Under Where to recover, in Browse, specify the cluster to recover the data to. After you specify the cluster and click OK, Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 automatically selects the cluster node that will perform the recovery. The node's name is displayed in the Browse field.

   Notes for recovering storage groups or databases:

   • Original location

     The original path for a storage group or a database means the same Exchange cluster from which the storage group or database has been backed up (regardless of the cluster nodes and the number of available database copies). If the same storage group or database exists in the original path, it will be overwritten with one from the backup.

     When recovering databases to the original path in Exchange 2010 DAG configuration, consider the following:

     • If the database being recovered exists in the original path, the database is always recovered to the cluster node hosting the active database copy. Other nodes are not available for selection. The recovered database will be replicated to other nodes automatically.
     • If the database being recovered does not exist in the origin path, the node where the database was active at the moment of backing up is selected. Other nodes are also available for selection. The selected node will host the active database copy after recovery. The database replication is configured in Exchange.

     When recovering storage groups to the original path in the Exchange 2003 and 2007 cluster configurations, the active node is preselected for recovery. Other nodes are not available for selection.

   • Custom

     When recovering a databases as a new database in Exchange 2010 DAG configuration, consider the following:

     • If the database being recovered exists in the target path, the database is always recovered to the cluster node hosting the active database copy. Other nodes are not available for selection. The recovered database will be replicated to other nodes automatically.
     • If the database being recovered does not exist in the target path, the first available node in the list of cluster nodes is selected. Other nodes are also available for selection. The node you select will host the active database copy after recovery. The database replication is configured in Exchange.

     For Exchange 2003 and 2007 cluster configurations, when recovering storage groups to a custom path, the active node is always selected for recovery. Other nodes are not available for selection.

   Notes for recovering mailboxes and public folders:

   • Microsoft Exchange Server

     When recovering mailboxes, public folders or their contents to the to the Exchange cluster, the settings you should perform are the same as those described in the "Recovering mailboxes, public folders and their contents to the Exchange server" section.

4. Under When to recover, specify when to perform the recovery.
5. Click OK to start the recovery task (if it is set to perform immediately) or save the recovery task (if it set to perform later).
